Unless you have been explicitly advised that emergency calling has been enabled on your service, you will be unable to place emergency calls via PhoneNet. Attempts to place emergency calls from a service that has not been provisioned for emergency calling will result in a notification to operators on duty who may conduct a wellness check.

As PhoneNet is a private network, emergency calling is not generally available. PhoneNet does however have the ability to route emergency calls for users who either:

  1. Have a Bring Your Own Trunk (BYOT) service with PSTN connectivity via their own carrier ;or
  2. Have PSTN access provided by PhoneNet with a direct indial number from the PSTN.

To be able to dial emergency services you will need to contact the service desk where we will either:

  • Confirm that your own trunk is enrolled in emergency services and then subsequently enable 911 or 000 depending on the region to be routed via this trunk.
  • Enroll your direct number in the local emergency services for your location (Australia and North America only). This will involve providing your address information to PhoneNet at which time we will add it to the relevant emergency services database (IPND or E911).

We will advise when your service has been enabled for emergency calling however this is never guaranteed and you should always maintain an accessible alternative service such as a mobile phone or other PSTN provider in the unfortunate event it is necessary to dial emergency services.
